Hi! I’m Sarah Kate

I have been a 200-hour registered yoga instructor (RYT) since 2020. I was introduced to yoga as an intern at a children’s theatre and I fell in love with it. It was a way for me to find what felt good in my body and give my mind a resting place in the chaos that is working as a freelance theatre artist. After graduating with my master’s degree in art and theatre education, I knew I wanted to incorporate that mindfulness in my classrooms to support my students.

When I was pregnant with my firstborn, I had already been practicing yoga for a few years, but really wanted to make sure I was moving my body in the best way for myself and my growing baby. I had just moved back to Iowa, it was right after the peak of COVID, and I could not find any local prenatal courses, so I studied and got myself certified as an 85 hour prenatal yoga teacher certified (RPYT). I am happy to work and support you while you and your body go through one of the craziest, exhausting, magical roller-coaster rides of your life. I definitely believe that prenatal yoga helped me feel more confident in my movement, centered me when I was anxious and unsure about parenthood, and most importantly, gave me breath when it was time to push!

Yoga is so much more than a workout or movement exercise. Asana is only 1 of the 8 limbs of yoga, and as a yoga instructor, I strive to support you wherever you are. I am not the “stereotypical” Instagram yoga model who poses on top of mountains in their matching, expensive yoga set. I’m a real person who has good days and bad days, and I want to be real with you, too. My yoga sessions are usually filled with pop culture references and friendly laughter as I become your personal cheerleader while you find your own flow.

I am so glad you are here and I look forward to working with you!

All the best,

Sarah Kate Bode
